Extant Aerospace has started construction on a new 376,000-square-foot industrial manufacturing facility in Melbourne, marking a significant expansion of its operations footprint. The company was represented by Michael Moss II of Lightle Beckner Robison in securing the building.
The project is part of Harbour Logistics Center, an industrial development that will deliver a total of 530,000 square feet of Class-A space across two buildings. Extant Aerospace will fully occupy Building Two, while a separate 154,000-square-foot space in Building One remains available for additional users within the park.
According to reporting from the Orlando Business Journal, Extant Aerospace plans to invest $75 million into the new facility. The expansion will also add 200 new jobs to the company, which currently employs about 250 people, underscoring a substantial increase in its local headcount tied to the new industrial footprint.
The upcoming facility will represent a major scale-up from Extant Aerospace’s existing base of 52,900 square feet at 1615 W. NASA Blvd. in Melbourne. The move from a sub-60,000-square-foot site to a 376,000-square-foot manufacturing building illustrates the company’s need for significantly more production and operational capacity.
Harbour Logistics Center’s Class-A industrial configuration is designed to support large-scale industrial and logistics users, with Extant Aerospace serving as the primary occupant of one of its two buildings. The remaining 154,000-square-foot space in Building One offers additional capacity within the same park for future tenants seeking modern industrial accommodations.
Extant Aerospace focuses on aerospace electronics and avionics products that serve a range of commercial and military platforms. The new Melbourne facility is expected to support this product mix by providing expanded manufacturing and operational space aligned with the company’s existing specialization in aerospace systems.
