Saragon Launches 10-Asset Colocation Data Center Platform Backed by $1B from I Squared

Saragon Launches to Serve Growing Demand for Colocation
CRE Market Beat Take
Institutional capital backing a 10-asset colocation platform signals continued appetite for scaled, multi-market data center portfolios tied to AI and edge workloads.

Saragon has entered the U.S. data center market with a 10-facility portfolio designed to address rising demand for colocation, high-density computing, and AI inference infrastructure. The newly launched platform is backed by up to $1 billion in committed capital from I Squared Capital, providing Saragon with resources to invest in its current assets and pursue future growth. The company is based in Phoenix and is positioning its initial portfolio to meet requirements across retail, enterprise, and wholesale colocation use cases.

The formation of Saragon follows I Squared Capital’s acquisition of 10 data center facilities from Cogent Fiber, LLC, a subsidiary of Cogent Communications Holdings, Inc. Those facilities now anchor Saragon’s launch footprint, giving the platform an immediate national reach. The portfolio offers approximately 53 megawatts of installed power capacity and about 259,000 square feet of colocation space, creating a multi-market, multi-tenant infrastructure base for a range of compute workloads.

The 10 data centers are located across nine U.S. markets: Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Baltimore, Houston, Nashville, and Stockton. This distribution gives Saragon a presence in a mix of major and regional metros across the country. The company plans to scale through investment in its existing footprint, customer-led expansions, and additional acquisitions, leveraging I Squared’s committed capital to build density and add locations as demand dictates.

Saragon CEO Steve Orlando said that demand for edge capacity is accelerating across retail, enterprise, and wholesale colocation as businesses bring compute closer to their users. He cited AI inference as the newest driver of that demand, alongside content delivery, hybrid cloud, and mission-critical enterprise workloads. Orlando noted that with a national launch footprint and institutional backing from I Squared Capital, Saragon is positioned to deliver capacity in the markets where customers most need it.

According to the company, the combination of installed power, existing colocation space, and a geographically diverse set of facilities provides a platform for both immediate deployment and future expansion. By starting operations with a substantial portfolio and dedicated growth capital, Saragon is entering the digital infrastructure landscape as a scaled data center operator focused on colocation and high-density compute support across multiple U.S. markets.
