Giant Wind Turbine Company Expanding Colorado Operations

Wind-energy giant Vestas is planning to invest $40 million in two Colorado factories, located in Windsor and Brighton. The expansion projects are expected to be completed by 2024 and will involve the production of a new line of wind turbines, creating hundreds of jobs for local residents. According to Laura Beane from Vestas Wind Systems, 800-1000 employees are needed over the next 18 months for their operations across North America.

Beane further commented that “wind energy is a key economic driver for local communities” and expressed excitement at bringing clean energy jobs as well as economic development opportunities to Colorado. Additionally, Vestas has won a bid on building turbines for an upcoming 423 megawatt project which is set begin construction next year with electricity generation projected by 2025; however due customer confidentiality requests they have not revealed its identity yet.
