Green Certification Implementation: Watch Our Video Conversation

Green Certification Implementation: Watch Our Video Conversation

When it comes to green certification, building owners and investors are often concerned with whether they will recoup their investment in the long run. While the gains may be difficult to quantify, there is increasing pressure to design or retrofit buildings according to certification programs. In a recent webinar, sustainability consultant Chris Corsten and David Burge of MarketOne Builders discussed LEED feasibility + analysis in 2023 and beyond using the Ziggurat Building as a case study. The five-year project cost 21 cents per square foot for implementation; however, it was driven by lessee requirements rather than financial incentives alone.

Alternative certifications such as Fitwell or IREM Certified Sustainable Property can offer more economical solutions than LEED; meanwhile BOMA 360 provides another option for senior management looking into green initiatives. Younger engineers are also becoming increasingly involved with designing building systems that meet sustainability criteria – not just thinking about how a building is now but how it needs to be in future years too!
