SupplyBank.org, an Oakland-based nonprofit organization that distributes essential supplies to under-resourced populations, is moving forward with plans to construct a mixed-use complex in Oakland. According to the San Francisco Business Times , the project would include a 160,000 square foot Class A office building and 120,000 square foot warehouse facility located at 5601 Oakport St., approximately one mile north of the Oakland Coliseum.
The 16.5 acre site owned by East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) will also feature 10,000 square feet of workshop space for EBMUD and close to 40,000 sq ft of materials storage for their utility purposes which currently uses it as a pipe storage yard. The proposal will be presented before Oakland’s Planning Commission on July 12th according to Business Times . If constructed successfully this project could be among the first major office projects initiated in Oakland since prior pandemic times when vacancy rates in core business district reached 28% while citywide vacancy was 17%.
