Venu Holdings is advancing construction on a 20,000-seat outdoor music venue in McKinney, with the company targeting an opening for its first concert in the early part of 2027. According to reporting from the Dallas Business Journal, the parking garage component of the project is nearing completion, while the seating bowl and canopy for the amphitheater are currently taking shape on site.
The large-scale music facility carries an estimated development cost of $300 million and is being delivered through a public-private partnership structure. The partnership brings together Venu Holdings and multiple local entities, including the City of McKinney, the McKinney Economic Development Corp. and the McKinney Community Development Corp. The collaboration is intended to deliver a regional-scale live entertainment destination in the city.
Construction is expected to wrap up in the first quarter of 2027, with the inaugural performance anticipated to follow soon after substantial completion. While Venu has outlined the overall timeline and capacity for the amphitheater, the company has not yet disclosed its opening act for the first show at the venue. A potential naming rights sponsor for the facility also has not been announced.
The McKinney amphitheater is part of a broader development and operating pipeline for Venu Holdings across multiple markets. The company reports that it has additional projects underway in Oklahoma, Houston and El Paso, indicating a multi-market expansion strategy within the live entertainment and venue space. Alongside the active development sites, Venu is planning another facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, further extending its reach into new geographies.
Beyond its development pipeline, Venu also has an established operating footprint. The company currently operates venues in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Gainesville, Georgia, and is exploring further expansion in Northern Colorado. Together, the existing venues, current projects and planned locations highlight Venu’s ongoing effort to scale a network of concert and event destinations across several regions.
For McKinney, the amphitheater represents a significant public-private investment focused on live entertainment, with construction progress suggesting that the project is on track toward its projected early 2027 opening window.
