Skender has successfully completed the construction of a 38,000-square-foot expansion for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The new facility, located at 4100 W. Ann Lurie Place, was finished seven weeks ahead of schedule and allows the food bank to increase its response to hunger by distributing up to 10,000 freshly-made meals per day.
The project team consisted of JLL as owner’s representative, Partners by Design as architect, Skender as general contractor,V3 Companies as civil engineer,Buro Happoldas structural engineer,Salas O’Brienas mechanical engineer,and PM&E Partners as food processing engineer.
The expansion includes a commercial kitchen for meal preparation,cold storage spaces,a new lobby,and site work covering over 11 acres.Skender also oversaw the installation of a Hydroponic Container Farming Unit.
