MassHousing and Esusu Launch Rent Reporting Pilot Program

MassHousing and fintech platform Esusu have teamed up to launch a pilot program in six Massachusetts rental housing communities. The goal of the program is to promote the use of rent reporting services within affordable housing and test different approaches for providing rental assistance to households who have missed payments. By boosting credit scores, reducing evictions, and creating economic opportunities for renters across the state, this partnership hopes to improve overall stability in the affordable housing ecosystem.

According to MassHousing CEO Chrystal Kornegay, “We are excited about evaluating the impact of this pilot program and implementing new practices that will benefit renters in our communities.”

Through its Housing Stability Department, MassHousing has contracted with Esusu’s Stable Home Fund service. This will provide on-time rent reporting as well as rent assistance for approximately 1,300 homes across six Massachusetts communities managed by four companies: Beacon Communities, Peabody Properties Inc., UHM Properties, and Appleton Corporation. These properties are located in Boston,Brockton,Worcester, and Springfield.

This collaboration between MassHousing and Esusu aims not only to help individual tenants but also create positive changes within the larger rental housing ecosystem.
