Matan Acquires 2M-SF Industrial Acreage in New Kent County for Development

Matan Companies has recently acquired 185 acres of land in New Kent County, VA. The company’s latest venture involves the development of the New Kent Logistics Center, which will feature four high-bay industrial buildings spanning approximately two million square feet.

This prime location is situated next to AutoZone’s East Coast distribution center, covering 800,000 square feet and just a short distance from a planned Buc-ees. Matan is currently moving forward with entitlement and approvals for their first building project on this site – totaling over one million square feet.

According to Jamie Minkler, managing director at Matan: “New Kent Logistics Center boasts an ideal location between Richmond and Hampton Roads – two thriving industrial submarkets in the nation.” He further adds that this site offers limited opportunities for large-scale developments zoned by-right for industrial use. With speed being a crucial factor in tenant selection processes nowadays, our plan to have the one-million-square-foot building ready-to-go will make it highly desirable among potential tenants from various industries.”

JLL has awarded Gareth Jones , Chris Avellana , and Charlie Polk with lease assignments while Matan takes care of property management duties internally.
