JCB Starts Construction on $500 Million Manufacturing Plant in South Africa

JCB, a leading construction equipment manufacturer, has recently announced the groundbreaking of its new $500 million factory in San Antonio, Texas. This marks the largest investment in the company’s history.

Construction is currently underway on the 720,000-square-foot facility situated on a 400-acre site. The plant will be JCB’s second-largest production facility after its world headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire, England. It is expected to generate around 1,500 jobs over five years and will primarily manufacture Loadall telescopic handlers and aerial access equipment starting from 2026. Additionally,the factory has potential for expansion to produce other products as well.The location of this state-of-the-art manufacturing plant is at3744 SE Loop410 Acc Rd., located onthe east side of town.

JCB entered North America market backin1964 with their first machine saleand established their first US manufacturing unitin Savannah Georgia,in2001 which currently employs over1000 people.This new facilitywill cater specificallyto customers withinNorth America region.

With a global workforceof19 thousand employees,JCB operates22 factories across different countries including11 facilitiesin UK ,7 plants in India,and others spread out between Brazil and China.In2025,the company will celebrateits80th anniversary milestone.

The latest development from JCB sees them investing $500 million into constructing a cutting-edge manufacturing plant located in San Antonio,Texas – marking it as their biggest venture yet.The project spans across an area of400 acresand boasts an impressive720000 square feet building.Workhas already commencedon-siteat3744 SE Loop410 Acc Rd.,locatedonthe eastern partofSan Antonio city.Withthisnew addition,JCB now ownsa total offacilities that sum up to22 globally;with11 being basedoutofUKwhileIndia,Brazil,andChina house7 more each.Just like how they have been doing since1964 when they soldtheir very first machine in North America,they will continue to cater to their customers within the region from this new plant.
