Revival of Former Westfield San Francisco Centre Under New Management

The iconic Westfield San Francisco Centre is set to undergo a rebranding as Emporium Centre San Francisco. Trident Pacific Real Estate Group and JLL, the newly appointed property manager, have outlined key areas for revitalizing this historic downtown location.

“Our team’s mission is to write the next chapter of the centre by simultaneously stabilizing and enhancing its offerings,” stated Gregg Williams, principal receiver at Trident Pacific. The firm was appointed by a Superior Court judge in October 2020 after lenders took over ownership of the property.

Williams emphasized that the new name pays tribute to the mall’s rich history and enduring presence in San Francisco. “Since opening its doors in 1896 as The Emporium, it has been hailed as ‘The Grandest Mercantile Building in World’ and was also known as West Coast’s first department store,” he added. “Throughout its 128-year legacy, it has adapted with changing times to remain a beloved community hub. We are committed to collaborating with our current retailers and restaurants, along with city officials and local residents, towards ensuring that this landmark destination thrives.”

JLL’s Lane Wade will serve as general manager for Emporium Centre San Francisco.”San Franciscans have always emerged stronger from economic fluctuations; we believe this prime location will do so too,” commented Wade on his appointment.
