Stonelake Capital Partners has broken ground on 2626 McKinney, a 17-story office project planned along McKinney Avenue in the Uptown district. According to reporting from the Dallas Business Journal, the planned tower is programmed with 173,774 square feet of office space and 7,067 square feet of ground-floor retail, positioning the building as a mixed-use addition to one of the city’s most active urban neighborhoods.
Stonelake disclosed in June that it secured construction financing for the project from Bank OZK, paving the way for vertical construction to move forward. While financial terms were not released, the commitment from a bank lender indicates that the capital stack for the development has reached a key milestone, allowing the sponsor to transition from predevelopment into full execution of the plan.
The site sits next to a Whole Foods grocery store and is within a short walk of The Crescent, The Ritz-Carlton, S&D Oyster Bar and a range of additional restaurants, shops and amenities that define Uptown’s live-work-play environment. Stonelake acquired the Uptown site in 2021, giving the firm several years to advance design, leasing strategy and capital arrangements prior to breaking ground on the high-rise.
Planned building features include an amenity level on the 11th floor, highlighted by a terrace designed to capture views of the Dallas skyline. This elevated common space is expected to serve as a shared environment for office tenants, differentiating the tower from more traditional offerings and aligning with the growing emphasis on amenity-rich workplaces in dense, walkable locations.
Brasfield & Gorrie has been selected as the general contractor for 2626 McKinney, taking responsibility for overseeing construction of the tower and coordinating delivery of the building systems and finishes. With the development now under way, the project is scheduled to be completed and delivered to the market in early 2028, adding new Class A office and retail space to the Uptown corridor.
As construction progresses, the combination of modern office space with ground-floor retail and proximity to a full spectrum of neighborhood amenities positions 2626 McKinney as a notable addition to the local office inventory. The project reflects ongoing investment activity in Uptown and underscores continued interest from institutional capital providers and developers in high-density urban districts.
