Resorts World Set to Open NYC’s First Table Games Casino
CRE Market Beat Take
The addition of live table games should increase gaming revenue density at the Queens property, potentially strengthening cash flows and valuations for the licensed downstate casino cohort.

Resorts World New York City is preparing to launch what is described as the first live table games offering in New York City, with an official opening scheduled for Tuesday, April 28. The casino, which is located next to Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, is introducing live table gaming on a newly reimagined third floor that has been configured to accommodate a substantial expansion of gaming options.

The third-floor gaming area will feature more than 240 live table games, according to the company. Guests will be able to choose from blackjack, craps, baccarat and roulette, alongside thousands of slot machines already in operation at the property. The introduction of live table games marks a notable shift for the facility, which has previously been focused on other forms of casino gaming.

Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, said the scale and style of the new offering will be distinctive for the local market. He noted that New York City has not previously hosted live table games of this type and emphasized that the new floor is intended to deliver a fresh gaming experience for visitors once it opens on April 28. DeSalvio also indicated that the launch is contingent on the completion of final testing by the state Gaming Commission.

DeSalvio stated that, following the Gaming Commission’s final testing, the live table games will be open and operating in Queens for the first time in New York City’s history. He added that the team at Resorts World New York City is preparing to welcome New Yorkers to the expanded gaming floor as soon as the regulatory process is complete.

The official opening will be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the casino. Genting chairman KT Lim is expected to attend the event, along with hip-hop artist NAS, elected officials, community leaders and other entertainers. The ceremony is slated to include a ceremonial throw of the first dice to signify the start of live table gaming operations at the property.

The rollout of live table games at Resorts World New York City follows the property’s selection as one of three downstate casino proposals to receive a gaming license in December. Along with Resorts World New York City, Bally’s Bronx and Metropolitan Park were also chosen for licenses in that same process. The upcoming debut of live table games at the Queens facility represents one of the early visible outcomes of that licensing decision for the New York City area.
