International full-service architecture firm RDC has opened a new 2,400-square-foot office serving the DC Metro area at One Loudoun in Ashburn, Virginia. The space establishes a dedicated presence for the firm within a mixed-use environment that combines retail and dining options.
The office is located at 20365 Exchange Street within the One Loudoun development. RDC will base its National Retail architecture studio in this new workplace, positioning the team in a setting that reflects the firm’s focus on retail-oriented environments and experience-driven design.
RDC Principal Joseph Serruya said the firm selected One Loudoun for its combination of on-site amenities and surrounding activity. He noted that the mix of retail and dining offerings was a key factor in the location decision, aligning with the firm’s goal of making time spent in the office appealing for employees.
Serruya also emphasized that RDC embraces a hybrid work culture, with the new office intended to be a place that staff look forward to using when they are on site. The firm views the surrounding community and the internal workplace design as important contributors to that experience.
The new office interior was designed by Phoenix Design One. The Loudoun County space features a natural materials palette that includes concrete floors, exposed ceilings, acoustical fixtures, tectum panels, and ash wood-look millwork, creating a contemporary and functional environment for collaborative work.
Serruya collaborated with Phoenix Design One Principal Sophia Humphrey to develop a hospitality-inspired concept for the workplace. The program incorporates soft seating areas, both enclosed and open meeting spaces, large collaboration tables, and a mix of dedicated and flexible workstations intended to support a range of work styles.
With this opening, RDC adds a DC Metro office that reflects its design priorities and supports the operations of its National Retail architecture studio, while Phoenix Design One’s interior concept aligns the space with hospitality-influenced workplace trends.
