The opening of Ilda’s Overlook Senior Residences in Fairfax, Virginia was celebrated by the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH), the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA), and county officials. This development provides 80 affordable homes for seniors aged 62 and above. The community, built in collaboration with Erickson Senior Living, aligns with Fairfax County’s goal to create 10,000 affordable housing units by 2034. Named after a historic community founded by formerly enslaved individuals, Ilda’s Overlook boasts features such as Universal Design principles incorporated into all units, EarthCraft Gold sustainable construction methods used throughout the building process,and rooftop solar panels.
Residents can enjoy amenities like in-unit washers and dryers,a fitness suite,gardens,and free Wi-Fi access within common areas.The project received financing through Low-Income Housing Tax Credits,Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development loans,and partnerships with Truist,PNC Bank,and Federal Home Loan Bank.This development is a significant step towards addressing senior housing needs while promoting sustainability measures within the community.
