Midland, Texas is set to welcome a new Bass Pro Shops facility that will measure over 100,000 square feet. This expansion was revealed in a special Commissioners’ meeting dedicated to discussing the store’s developers’ sales tax rebate. County Judge Terry Johnson shared that the developers of the Bass Pro Shops in west Midland have increased its size by 50,000 square feet from an original proposal of 50,000 square feet.
The Midland Reporter-Telegram reported on a community meeting held back in May where Charles Hodges – developer of this retail store – said it had been upgraded from 50K SQ FT to 65K SQ FT with 115 employees and an estimated $28 million worth of sales. In Monday’s court session however it was revealed that both size and number of employees has grown even further; now upwards 300 people are expected to be employed at this location once completed. Texas currently hosts 14 Bass/Cabela’s stores across its state lines making for great competition among retailers as well as more job opportunities for local residents!
