McShane Construction Completes Mixed-Income Project on Chicago's Near South Side

McShane Construction Company and joint venture partner Powers & Sons Construction have completed the construction of 23rd Place at Southbridge, a mixed-income project located on the site of the former Harold Ickes Homes in Chicago’s Near South Side. The development offers 206 apartment units and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space across two buildings.

Mat Dougherty, President at McShane commented: “23rd Place at Southbridge is an incredible community situated between four vibrant neighborhoods – South Loop, Chinatown, Bronzeville and Motor Row District. We are proud to provide residents with access to affordable housing options through our Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program which makes up 50% of all units available for households earning 80% or less than Area Median Income (AMI).”

The completion marks a major milestone in creating economic diversity within this thriving neighborhood while providing quality living spaces for those who call it home.
