Krusinski Construction Company has begun work on a 64,086-square-foot warehouse and office buildout in Elmhurst, Illinois for Saltbox, a company that provides flexible warehouse and workspace solutions for growing product brands. The facility is expected to function as Saltbox’s first Midwest location, extending the company’s footprint as it continues to expand across the United States.
The project centers on renovating an existing warehouse to accommodate modern logistics and operational requirements for e-commerce users and entrepreneurs. Planned improvements include infrastructure to support a modular wall system, designed to give users a flexible and professional environment for receiving, storing and shipping inventory. The focus on modularity is intended to allow a range of growing product brands to adapt space configurations as their operational needs evolve.
The construction scope also incorporates targeted updates to the building’s office component. Within the existing 1,182-square-foot office area, Krusinski Construction Company will carry out renovations to modernize the space and better support daily administrative and operational functions on-site. Additional infrastructure upgrades, restroom renovations and back-of-house improvements are part of the buildout plan to enhance the overall functionality of the facility.
To support product storage requirements, the project includes installation of a state-of-the-art air purification system along with a climate-controlled environment. These systems are aimed at helping maintain suitable conditions for a variety of tenant products, with an emphasis on reliability and consistency across different seasons and operating conditions.
The project team from Krusinski Construction Company includes Senior Project Manager Ryan Lehman, Project Engineer Siddy Gupta Katkam, Senior Project Superintendent Dan Laffey and Project Coordinator Angie Mojica. Ware Malcomb is serving as the project architect, providing design services for the warehouse and office renovation as well as the associated building systems enhancements.
By delivering a flexible warehouse and workspace concept tailored to e-commerce and product-centric businesses, the Elmhurst facility is positioned to support Saltbox’s operational model in a new regional market. The buildout integrates contemporary industrial features and building systems intended to serve a mix of small and growing brands that require a professional, logistics-ready environment without committing to traditional large-scale industrial footprints.
