JLL has launched a new retail solutions group within its project and development services platform, creating an integrated team that combines design, architecture and project management expertise across the full lifecycle of retail brands. The firm appointed industry veteran Mark Bateman as executive managing director to lead the initiative and added Kevin Songer as managing director of architecture, aligning leadership around the group’s technical and delivery capabilities.
The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park has named Dr. Philip Makotyn as its new Deputy Chief Technology Officer. In this senior leadership role, Dr. Makotyn will guide the park’s technical strategy and growth plans as it advances efforts to support the development and commercialization of quantum technologies and microelectronics. He joins the organization after nearly two decades working in Colorado’s quantum ecosystem.
Urban Innovations reported that its newly developed office tower at 311 W Huron in Chicago’s River North neighborhood has earned Two Green Globes certification for new construction from the Green Building Initiative. The 15-story, 153,000-square-foot building was developed by Urban Innovations, designed by NORR and constructed by ARCO/Murray, with the certification recognizing the project’s sustainability and energy-efficiency performance.
The Chicago Housing Authority recently hosted its 4th Annual Homeownership Forum at the David Rubenstein Forum at the University of Chicago, attracting more than 200 attendees for a full day focused on homeownership. Current and prospective CHA homeowners participated in presentations and panel discussions. Through its public housing and voucher programs, CHA reports that it serves 135,000 people in 65,000 households across all 77 of Chicago’s community areas.
In Chicago’s West Loop, Stream Realty Partners has been selected by Menashe Properties to provide property management services at 230 W. Monroe, a 29-story office tower totaling 625,000 square feet. Stream has already served as the building’s leasing agent for the past three years, and the new assignment extends the firm’s role at the property. Leader of Property Management & Partner Victoria Knudson will oversee property management, while Managing Director Mark Bâby and Executive Vice President Ben Cleveland will continue to lead leasing on behalf of ownership.
Lee & Associates arranged a 42,169-square-foot lease renewal at 1325 Remington Boulevard in Bolingbrook, Illinois, representing both the landlord and the tenant. The landlord, Pritzker Realty Group, was represented by principal Jeff Galante, SIOR, while the tenant, e-commerce logistics company Cargowill, was represented by principal Chris Nelson.
