Carlson Partners has guided Boyum Barenscheer through a major workplace consolidation, relocating the Twin Cities accounting and advisory firm into a new headquarters at Midway Innovation Center II, 2344 Energy Park Drive in St. Paul. The move brings together the firm’s two Minnesota offices into a single hub designed to support future growth and collaboration.
Boyum Barenscheer previously operated from an office at 3050 Metro Drive in Bloomington and a second location at 1210 W. County Road E in Arden Hills. Both are being consolidated into the Midway Innovation Center II address, giving the firm a central site that connects its historical employee and client bases across the metro.
The new headquarters comprises 43,346 square feet, representing an increase of more than 6,000 square feet over Boyum Barenscheer’s combined prior footprint. The firm will occupy two of the building’s three floors, creating an environment that concentrates its teams and services while expanding the amount of space available for staff, client interaction and future operational needs.
Carlson Partners advisors Tim Olsen, SIOR, partner, and Sami Cowger, SIOR, executive director, represented Boyum Barenscheer in the transaction. Their engagement covered the full real estate cycle for the firm, from initial site selection through lease negotiations. Carlson Partners is continuing to support the tenant through design, buildout and move-in to ensure the new headquarters aligns with the firm’s workplace and client-service objectives.
On the ownership side, landlord CSM was represented in the lease by Transwestern’s Eric Rapp, SIOR, and JLL’s Eric Batiza, SIOR. Their role focused on securing Boyum Barenscheer as a significant tenant at Midway Innovation Center II, where the firm’s two-floor commitment enhances the building’s occupancy and anchors a sizable professional services presence.
The consolidation into a larger, centrally located St. Paul headquarters underscores Boyum Barenscheer’s long-term commitment to the Twin Cities market, while also highlighting the role of modern office product in accommodating professional services firms that continue to centralize operations.
