A $2.2 billion, jobs-heavy pharma manufacturing commitment in New Albany highlights sustained institutional demand for modern industrial production space in established business parks.

Bayer is moving forward with a major U.S. expansion, committing $2.2 billion to develop a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in New Albany, Ohio. The investment will fund a state-of-the-art production site that is intended to serve patients in the United States as well as international markets, reinforcing the company's long-term growth plans for its pharmaceuticals business.

The New Albany facility builds on more than seven billion dollars Bayer has allocated to pharmaceutical research, development and manufacturing over the past five years. The new project is described as a central element of that broader investment program, positioning the company to support future product pipelines and strengthen its manufacturing footprint.

Located within the New Albany International Business Park, the development is expected to generate significant employment during both construction and operations. Bayer anticipates that the facility will support around 600 permanent jobs once operational. In addition, approximately 1,500 construction jobs are projected over the course of the buildout, underscoring the project's near-term economic impact on the surrounding area.

Bayer CEO Bill Anderson framed the commitment as a reinforcement of the company's long-standing view of the United States as a key base for manufacturing and innovation. He noted that the scale of the investment highlights Bayer's ongoing commitment to the U.S. market and emphasized that the New Albany plant is expected to concentrate manufacturing expertise and a skilled workforce dedicated to delivering innovative, high-quality medicines.

The new facility is also designed to complement Bayer's existing U.S. pharmaceutical platform. The company maintains its U.S. pharmaceuticals headquarters in Whippany, New Jersey, and operates additional sites across the country. The New Albany project will expand this network with a modern manufacturing hub that is intended to support both domestic and global demand.

For the New Albany International Business Park, the announcement represents the addition of a large-scale, branded pharmaceutical manufacturing user, further diversifying the business park's corporate roster. While detailed specifications such as building size, construction timeline and delivery schedule have not been disclosed, the project signals a long-term operational presence by a global life sciences company in the park.

Beyond the immediate job creation and capital commitment, the facility underscores the role of advanced manufacturing in the broader healthcare and life sciences supply chain. By situating a major production site in New Albany, Bayer is adding new capacity to its network of U.S. and international locations, with the stated aim of improving the company's ability to deliver medicines to patients in the United States and worldwide.
