The nonprofit, which is dedicated to promoting and preserving barbershop music as an art form, acquired the building in 2006 for $1.45 million and has maintained its operations there since that time.

As part of the new hotel plan, most of the existing Barbershop Harmony Society building is expected to be demolished. However, the developer intends to preserve and restore the iconic facade, integrating it into the new high-rise development. This approach would allow the project to retain a visible connection to the site’s history and architectural character, even as the balance of the property is transformed into a modern hospitality asset.
