Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist has opened Medical Plaza Northwest Greensboro, a new multi-specialty medical office building designed to consolidate a broad range of outpatient services in one facility. Located at 2909 Horse Pen Creek Road, the five-story property spans 134,000 square feet and represents a $163 million investment in expanded community healthcare access.
The new medical plaza is intended to function as a regional hub for outpatient surgery, specialty care and comprehensive cancer services. Patients from Greensboro and surrounding communities will be able to access cardiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, weight management, orthopedics and oncology within a single building, reducing the need to navigate multiple locations for different types of care.
The ambulatory surgery center within the facility includes three operating rooms, two procedure rooms and a dedicated heart and vascular procedure room, supporting a range of surgical and interventional services. Beyond the operating suite, the building offers on-site infusion therapy bays, a pharmacy, imaging services and physical therapy, enabling providers to coordinate diagnostics, treatments and follow-up care under one roof.
By integrating these services, the medical office building is structured to streamline the patient journey, from diagnosis through treatment and rehabilitation. The concentration of clinical offerings in one location is aimed at improving care coordination and creating a more convenient experience for residents who prefer to receive specialized care close to home.
In addition to the medical office building, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist has plans for further expansion on the same site. The organization is preparing to construct a $262 million community hospital adjacent to Medical Plaza Northwest Greensboro. According to the plans outlined, the hospital is scheduled to open in the first half of 2029, extending the campus into a more comprehensive healthcare destination for the area.
Together, the newly opened medical office building and the planned community hospital represent a significant long-term investment in healthcare infrastructure for Greensboro and nearby communities, with the current facility already operational and the hospital project moving forward on the neighboring parcel.
