AEG and Archer Aviation have entered into an agreement to create Downtown Los Angeles’ first vertiport at L.A. LIVE, positioning the sports and entertainment district for future electric air taxi service. The vertiport is planned as a vertical takeoff and landing facility dedicated to all-electric aircraft, reflecting the partners’ focus on urban air mobility within a dense, mixed-use environment.
The agreement, arranged by AEG Global Partnerships, designates Archer as the exclusive air taxi partner for the four-million-square-foot L.A. LIVE district. This exclusivity ties the planned vertiport directly to Archer’s platform and gives the company a defined foothold within one of Los Angeles’ highest-profile hospitality, sports and entertainment destinations. For AEG, the arrangement aligns the district with an emerging transportation mode intended to connect urban visitors and event attendees more efficiently.
Archer’s founder and CEO, Adam Goldstein, described the project as an opportunity to expand the infrastructure base required for all-electric flight in Southern California. He framed the L.A. LIVE vertiport as part of broader efforts to prepare the region for the next era of electric air travel, indicating that the partners see the site as a strategic node within a larger network rather than a stand-alone amenity.
AEG and Archer have completed an initial feasibility study for the L.A. LIVE location. That work has included land-use analysis, airspace reviews, assessments of available power to support electric aircraft operations and consideration of community impact. With those upfront studies concluded, the project has advanced into a new phase focused on how the vertiport will function on a day-to-day basis.
The current phase centers on operational planning and guest experience. The partners are evaluating how travelers and event-goers will move through the facility, how operations will integrate with the existing district and what processes will be needed to manage safety, boarding, and coordination with ground-based activity. These efforts are underway as AEG and Archer work toward formalizing the site as Los Angeles’ first downtown vertiport.
Plans call for the vertiport to be ready in time for the LA28 Games, tying the project’s timeline to one of the city’s most significant upcoming events. If delivered on schedule, the facility would be positioned to serve visitors and participants during a global showcase period for the city. For L.A. LIVE, the addition of a dedicated vertiport is intended to complement the district’s existing sports, entertainment and hospitality uses by adding an aviation component that can connect the venue with the broader region.
