Transformative Eclectic Austin Hot Spot

Transformative Eclectic Austin Hot Spot

The eclectic Austin hot spot located between Brazos Street and I-35 along Sixth Street is set to transform. Stream Realty Partners, who owns 40 properties in the area, has been given the green light by Austin City Council to allow taller buildings on a portion of Sixth Street. This advancement will help Stream’s vision for a mixed-use district intended for round-the-clock use come alive.

On the 500 block, plans are underway to construct a 150 – 160 room hotel that would rise more than 70 feet high or five floors or more; while on 600 block there is an intention of building 122 foot tall residential tower with 10+ floors. These projects were not allowed under current zoning regulations but have now become possible due to raised height restrictions granted by city council vote last week. Food and beverage purveyors will still be at the heart of this neighborhood transformation as they remain its driving force even after redevelopment efforts are complete .
