Washington Commanders Secure New Ownership: Stadium Plans Still Unclear

Josh Harris’ $6.05-billion deal for the Washington Commanders has been ratified by NFL owners, ushering in a new era of ownership and raising questions about where a new stadium will be built.

Harris, who also owns the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, expressed his enthusiasm for Washington’s passionate football fans during remarks to reporters after the deal was finalized: “What I love about Washington is it has a lot of incredibly passionate football fans and they want to talk about a lot of things, and obviously [a new stadium] is one of them… We’re going to be focused on that.”

In addition to exploring options for building an eventual facility on or near RFK Stadium site as reported by The Business Journal , Harris’ largest partner in this venture – Michell Rales – told The Post he had “no idea” where they would build it. In any case, Harris will focus initially on improving business operations within his newly acquired team before turning attention towards constructing their future home field.
