The Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS (SIOR) has wrapped up its 2026 Fall Event in New York City, convening a global cross-section of commercial real estate professionals for four days of programming focused on the sector’s evolving landscape. More than 1,200 attendees from 21 countries gathered at the New York Hilton Midtown for networking, professional development and forward-looking discussions on how economic conditions, technology and shifting occupier needs are reshaping the industry.
Running from October 19 to 22, the conference was a signature moment in SIOR’s 85th anniversary year, underscoring the organization’s long-standing emphasis on professional standards and collaboration across markets. The event highlighted SIOR’s role as a platform for sharing market intelligence and fostering durable relationships among brokers, advisors, investors and other commercial real estate stakeholders.
The agenda combined keynote addresses with educational sessions that examined both emerging opportunities and operational challenges in commercial real estate. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie contributed a perspective rooted in public policy and macro trends, while Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi addressed economic dynamics influencing CRE performance and decision-making.
Attendees also heard from bestselling author and leadership expert Caroline Webb, who focused on workplace performance and leadership themes relevant to deal-making and client service, and from veteran New York commercial real estate broker Bob Knakal, who brought a local market and transactional lens to the discussion. These keynote sessions framed the broader conference conversations around strategy, risk and execution.
SIOR CEO David C. Lockwood III emphasized that the Fall Event reinforced the organization’s core values of excellence, collaboration and mutual support among members. He noted that SIOR’s longevity is closely tied to its global community of professionals who prioritize trusted relationships and knowledge-sharing as market conditions change.
A recurring theme during the event was the growing value of specialized expertise as capital and occupiers become more discerning. Participants examined how deeper sector knowledge, data-informed insights and cross-border connectivity can help navigate cycles, especially as technology alters space usage and tenant expectations.
Discussions also underscored the importance of adaptability, with members focused on how to respond to evolving occupier requirements, new workplace models and ongoing economic uncertainty. Against the backdrop of SIOR’s 85th anniversary, the conference positioned the organization as a forum for refining best practices and aligning global professionals around shared standards in a changing commercial real estate environment.
