The adaptive reuse of CoorsTek’s legacy campus into a mixed-use headquarters-led district highlights continued investor willingness to reposition older industrial sites into higher-intensity, multiuse office environments.

The Coors family-backed Clayworks redevelopment in Golden, Colorado has reached its first major milestone with the completion of The Pottery, a new office building created through the adaptive reuse of the former CoorsTek headquarters and manufacturing facilities.

The Pottery encompasses 188,600 square feet of office space and serves as a key anchor for the broader Clayworks master plan. The building was developed by AC Development, the Coors family’s development company, which led the transformation of the legacy ceramics manufacturing site into a contemporary workplace environment.

CoorsTek and AC Development have completed their relocation into The Pottery, consolidating their teams in the new building. The move provides CoorsTek with a modern headquarters while keeping the company’s operations closely tied to Golden, where it has maintained a longstanding presence.

Within The Pottery, additional office and retail space is available for lease, positioning the building to accommodate a mix of corporate and commercial users. The project is intended to support both the needs of Coors-related operations and a broader set of tenants seeking modern space within the emerging Clayworks district.

Clayworks is being developed as a 14-acre, six-block mixed-use neighborhood on the former CoorsTek ceramics manufacturing campus. The plan calls for a combination of office, retail and dining space alongside public gathering areas, housing, parking and a future boutique hotel, creating a multi-use environment across several city blocks.

A central goal of the redevelopment is to preserve elements of the property’s industrial and corporate history while layering in new uses that connect with the surrounding Golden community. The adaptive reuse of CoorsTek’s prior headquarters and manufacturing facilities into The Pottery exemplifies this approach, retaining the site’s legacy while reconfiguring it for contemporary office use.

Design and construction responsibilities for The Pottery were handled by a dedicated project team. AC Development served as the developer, Tryba Architects acted as architect and Holder Construction served as general contractor. Their work has delivered the first completed office component within the Clayworks plan, establishing a foundation for subsequent phases of the mixed-use neighborhood.

As additional phases of Clayworks move forward, The Pottery is expected to function as both a headquarters location and a multi-tenant office and retail hub within the redeveloped district, reflecting the broader shift of the former industrial campus toward a long-term mixed-use configuration.
