Big Watt Digital and PowerHouse Data Centers have secured local approval from the town of Taylor for a large-scale data center initiative designed as a turnkey campus. The project carries potential to accommodate up to one gigawatt of hyperscale data center capacity, positioning the planned campus as a significant future node for high-intensity digital infrastructure.
The joint venture is advancing plans for Taylor Technology Campus on an approximately 664-acre site located within what is described as Austin’s fast-growing technology corridor. According to the partners, the site was selected for its combination of connectivity and infrastructure access, including proximity to major transportation routes and existing fiber networks, which are essential to support modern data center operations.
The development concept emphasizes adjacency to key energy and network assets. The location offers access to nearby high-voltage transmission infrastructure and natural gas resources, elements the partners expect will underpin large-scale, behind-the-meter power generation for the campus. These features are intended to support the level of reliability and resilience required for hyperscale computing environments.
Plans for Taylor Technology Campus center on a dedicated, behind-the-meter power solution, with generation and distribution infrastructure engineered specifically to serve the on-site facilities. By directing power infrastructure to the campus itself, the project is intended to meet stringent uptime and performance thresholds that large data center users typically require.
The joint venture is targeting initial power availability for the campus in the first half of 2028. This timeline frames a multi-year development and build-out schedule as the partners move from entitlements into implementation, with the approved master plan setting the stage for future phases of construction and potential tenant deployment across the site.
