Hyundai Transys is planning a substantial expansion of its manufacturing complex in West Point, Georgia, committing nearly $560 million to upgrade and grow its operations. The project is expected to add 320 new jobs at the site as the company enhances its ability to serve global automotive customers with operations in North America.
Founded in 1994, Hyundai Transys has developed into a global automotive parts specialist with a focus on advanced technology for powertrains and seating systems. The company already employs roughly 1,250 people at its West Point facility, making the location a significant employment base within its North American footprint.
The planned investment will be concentrated at 6801 Kia Parkway in West Point, where Hyundai Transys currently operates multiple production plants. The scope of work includes upgrades to plant one and plant two, along with the construction of a new third plant on the property. These improvements are designed to expand the company's manufacturing capabilities and support additional production.
A key focus of the project will be boosting production capacity for electrified powertrains used in hybrid vehicles. By adding new facilities and modernizing existing ones, Hyundai Transys aims to increase output volumes for these components and align its manufacturing platform with the evolving needs of the automotive sector.
Most of the expanded plant output will be supplied to Kia, reflecting the close relationship between the two companies and the strategic role of the West Point location in their shared supply chain. The enhancements at 6801 Kia Parkway are expected to strengthen the site's position as a critical hub for automotive parts production tied to hybrid vehicle programs.
For the surrounding community, the combination of new capital investment and additional jobs underscores the ongoing importance of automotive manufacturing in West Point. The facility upgrades and the planned third plant construction reinforce the area's role in supporting North American operations for Hyundai Transys and its automotive customers.
