Henricksen, a national contract furniture dealer, has opened a new headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, marking a notable transition for the company from its previous base in Itasca, Illinois. The move centers on a renovated, full-floor workspace designed to serve as the firm’s primary hub while reflecting its evolving approach to how employees and clients use the office.
The Oak Brook headquarters spans a 14,000-square-foot floor that Henricksen has reconfigured to support hybrid work patterns and more efficient space utilization. Company leadership describes the new setting as an opportunity to rethink not just the location of work, but the way teams collaborate, host clients, and engage with the firm’s contract furniture offerings in a real-world environment.
Henricksen’s decision to relocate was driven in part by Oak Brook’s central position relative to Chicago, major expressways, and surrounding suburban communities. This location is intended to improve access for staff and visitors across the region while situating the headquarters within a well-connected suburban office market. The shift underscores how corporate users are reassessing their footprints and site selection priorities in light of changing workplace expectations.
The company partnered with Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC) to design the new headquarters space. LJC’s role focused on shaping a layout and environment that highlight collaboration, hospitality, and client-centered design, aligning the physical workplace with Henricksen’s broader business model in contract furniture. The renovated floor is also positioned to function as a living showroom, allowing clients to experience furniture solutions in an active office setting.
Redmond Construction served as the project’s general contractor, overseeing the renovation and build-out of the full-floor headquarters environment. Cushman & Wakefield acted as the broker on the assignment, supporting Henricksen in securing and structuring the Oak Brook location. HNI participated as a key manufacturing partner, reflecting the company’s integration of product partners into its new workplace.
Commenting on the opening, Ryan Esche, Principal and General Manager of Illinois for Henricksen, emphasized that the headquarters is intended to advance the way the organization works and collaborates, rather than simply providing a new address. The project represents a strategic realignment of Henricksen’s office footprint to better match contemporary workstyles while maintaining connectivity to the wider Chicago-area business community.
