Clise Properties Names Benjamin Freeburg as Chief Financial Officer
CRE Market Beat Take
A seasoned CFO with cross-platform real estate finance experience should help Clise Properties maintain disciplined capital oversight and reporting for investors and lenders.

Clise Properties has selected Benjamin Freeburg to serve as its next chief financial officer, positioning him to oversee the company's financial strategy as it continues to manage a diverse real estate portfolio. He will take over the role from long-time finance leader Bryan Joyner, who plans to retire at the end of the year after a 34-year career with the firm.

The change represents a planned transition in the company's senior leadership. Joyner's multi-decade tenure has spanned numerous market cycles, and his retirement marks a notable shift for the organization's finance function. Clise Properties is turning to Freeburg, an experienced real estate finance executive, to guide its capital oversight and financial operations going forward.

Freeburg brings more than 20 years of experience in real estate finance to the position. His background includes leadership roles across both private and institutional investment and asset management platforms, working with a variety of property types. That mix of experience is expected to support Clise Properties' needs as it manages and invests across a broad portfolio of real estate assets.

Executive Chairman A.M. Clise described Freeburg as having the right experience to connect capital markets knowledge with operating platforms and investment strategies. In announcing the appointment, Clise emphasized that Freeburg is expected to help support and enhance the company's portfolio while providing transparent leadership. The company also highlighted the importance of strong collaboration with both internal teams and external partners as a priority for the incoming CFO.

Before joining Clise Properties, Freeburg served as chief financial officer at Martin Selig Real Estate for the past two years. In that role, he held senior responsibility for the financial function at another real estate organization, adding to his track record in the sector. His experience also includes leadership positions with Aegis Living and Echelon Capital, further broadening his exposure to different real estate and investment operating models.

Freeburg began his career at BlackRock, a global investment firm, providing him with an early grounding in institutional investment practices. Over more than two decades, he has worked within a range of real estate-related organizations, spanning both investment and asset management disciplines. Clise Properties is now drawing on that trajectory as it implements its CFO succession plan and prepares for Joyner's retirement.

With this appointment, Clise Properties signals a focus on continuity in financial leadership while bringing in a CFO whose background spans multiple segments of real estate finance. The company's public comments underscore an emphasis on transparency, capital markets fluency, and close coordination with stakeholders as key elements of its financial management going forward.
