Joby Aviation’s lease at Alliance Air Trade Center underscores how emerging air mobility users are reinforcing demand for specialized aviation and logistics infrastructure in established industrial hubs.

Joby Aviation has signed a lease for 45,000 square feet at the Alliance Air Trade Center in Haslet, within the broader Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport complex. The deal establishes a notable new footprint in North Texas for the company, which focuses on next-generation aircraft technology.

The leased premises sit inside Hillwood’s 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development, a large-scale master-planned logistics and industrial hub. By locating within this environment, Joby is tapping into an ecosystem that has long catered to aviation, freight and supply chain users, reinforcing the area’s role as a specialized aviation and logistics platform.

Joby is described as a leading developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing, or eVTOL, aircraft. These aircraft use electric propulsion to hover, take off and land vertically, functioning in some ways like helicopters but designed with advanced technology aimed at commercial passenger travel. The capability to operate vertically allows these aircraft to use more compact facilities than traditional fixed-wing aircraft.

The company’s technology is frequently referenced as an air taxi concept and is sometimes colloquially likened to a flying car. While the terminology varies, the shared idea is point-to-point air mobility designed for short urban or regional trips. Joby’s focus is on commercial passenger service, positioning its aircraft as a potential new mode of transportation in dense or high-traffic markets.

The new facility at Alliance Air Trade Center marks Joby’s first significant presence in North Texas for eVTOL-related operations. The location is set within one of the country’s more established aviation and logistics settings, benefitting from the concentration of infrastructure, industrial real estate and air cargo activity that has developed around Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport and AllianceTexas.

Perot Field itself plays a central role in the AllianceTexas Mobility Innovation Zone, a public-private initiative focused on advancing air and surface mobility technologies. Within this zone, industry innovators, policymakers and infrastructure partners work together to test and deploy new transportation solutions. Joby’s arrival adds another participant to that ecosystem, aligning an emerging air taxi platform with a setting explicitly organized around mobility experimentation and deployment.

By locating in AllianceTexas and at Perot Field, Joby Aviation is positioning its eVTOL operations alongside established aviation users and logistics providers, in an environment intended to support innovation in both air and ground transportation. The lease reinforces the positioning of AllianceTexas and the Mobility Innovation Zone as a focal point for companies involved in the development and commercialization of advanced mobility concepts.
