White Lodging is moving forward with a new Autograph Collection hotel in Charlotte, with construction set to begin this month in the city’s South End neighborhood. The ground-up project, branded under Marriott’s Autograph Collection, will be located at the intersection of South Tryon Street and Bland Street and is described as the first full-service hotel in South End. It adds another property to White Lodging’s national portfolio, which already includes more than 60 hotels and four existing Autograph Collection assets.
The planned hotel will offer 295 guest rooms positioned in the luxury segment of the hospitality market. In addition to lodging, the project is designed to accommodate business and group demand with nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space. A ground-floor restaurant will be incorporated into the program, intended to serve both hotel guests and the surrounding community.
Amenities at the property are expected to play a central role in its positioning. Plans call for an open-air pool deck on the fifth floor, providing outdoor space elevated above the street level. The hotel will also feature a public steam sauna and both cold- and hot-plunge pools, as well as a spa offering. Together, these elements are meant to create a full-service guest experience consistent with an upper-upscale, lifestyle-oriented hotel.
Food-and-beverage components are a notable element of the design. In addition to the ground-floor restaurant, a restaurant and bar within the hotel has been conceived to function as a community anchor in the South End neighborhood. The concept is intended to integrate the property into the area’s established dining and social scene and to provide a gathering place for residents, workers, and visitors.
On the execution side, White Lodging has assembled a team of experienced commercial real estate and design firms. Brasfield & Gorrie has been engaged to lead construction for the project. Design responsibilities are being handled by Abeyta Architecture Studio and Corgan Architects, which are collaborating on the architectural vision for the hotel.
By introducing the first full-service hotel product to South End, the development broadens the neighborhood’s hospitality offerings and adds new meeting, wellness, and dining infrastructure to one of Charlotte’s most active urban districts.
