NAIOP Rebrands as Commercial Real Estate Development Association (CREDA)

NAIOP Becomes the Commercial Real Estate Development Association
CRE Market Beat Take
CREDA’s rebrand clarifies that its advocacy and programming span multifamily, retail, logistics, office, mixed-use and data centers, offering a single platform for cross-asset issues.

The association long known as NAIOP has adopted a new identity as the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, or CREDA, reflecting a broader description of the industry it serves. The organization announced that the updated name is intended to build on its established position within commercial real estate while better aligning the brand with its current and future role in the market.

According to the announcement, the new name is designed to clearly communicate the full range of work undertaken by its membership. CREDA continues to represent commercial real estate developers, owners, investors and related professionals, but the association noted that its members are active across a wide spectrum of property types and uses.

Those property types include multifamily housing, retail destinations, logistics and fulfillment facilities, office buildings, mixed-use developments and data centers. By highlighting this breadth of activity, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association is positioning its brand around the diversity of assets that support businesses, communities and critical infrastructure across North America.

The organization reported that it now represents more than 21,000 members operating through 55 chapters across North America. This member and chapter base underscores the association’s reach within the commercial real estate sector and its engagement with local and regional markets across the continent.

Marc Selvitelli, CAE, president and CEO of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, emphasized the role of the industry in the broader economy. He stated that commercial real estate development has never been more important to the future of communities and the overall economy, framing the sector as a key contributor to economic growth and community development.

Selvitelli added that the new name more accurately reflects who the association’s members are, what they do and the value they provide to communities across North America. His comments link the rebranding directly to the association’s mission to represent the interests and contributions of commercial real estate professionals working across multiple property types.

With the shift from NAIOP to the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, the organization is underscoring its focus on the complete lifecycle and variety of commercial real estate development. The rebranding is presented as an evolution of the association’s identity rather than a change in scope, intended to make its role and membership profile clearer to both industry participants and external stakeholders.
