Prologis Names Karen Cherry as VP, Market Officer for Mid-Atlantic Market
CRE Market Beat Take
Leadership continuity over a large Mid-Atlantic logistics portfolio supports operational stability for investors in Prologis-managed assets in that region.

Prologis has promoted Karen Cherry to vice president, market officer for the company's Mid-Atlantic market, advancing her from her previous position within the firm. In the new role, Cherry steps into responsibilities previously held by Emily Smith, who has transitioned into a leadership position within Prologis' customer-led solutions business based in Chicago.

As market officer, Cherry is charged with overseeing Prologis' Mid-Atlantic operating portfolio, which consists of more than 150 logistics facilities totaling over 18 million square feet. The portfolio spans key industrial corridors across Maryland, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia, positioning her at the center of the company's regional operations.

Cherry's mandate includes responsibility for market operations, leasing activity, customer engagement and talent across the Mid-Atlantic logistics platform. Her work will focus on managing day-to-day performance of the operating portfolio while maintaining relationships with existing customers and supporting the company's broader growth objectives in the region.

Cherry joined Prologis in July 2021 as vice president, leasing officer, where she led leasing for approximately 13 million square feet of logistics space in Maryland. In that capacity, she directed leasing strategy and execution, and managed the leasing and marketing team serving Maryland, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia, gaining direct experience with the assets and customer base she now oversees at the market level.

Her promotion builds on more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience spanning investment, development, leasing and sales. Before joining Prologis, Cherry held leadership roles with The Howard Hughes Corporation, expanding her exposure to large-scale real estate platforms. Earlier in her career, she worked in brokerage positions with Cushman & Wakefield, Lee & Associates, Trammell Crow Company and SVN International, giving her a broad view of capital, occupier and developer priorities across multiple market cycles.

With this leadership change, Prologis aligns market oversight in the Mid-Atlantic with a long-tenured executive who has already been closely involved with the company's logistics footprint in the region, while redeploying Smith to help advance its customer-led solutions initiatives from Chicago.
