Krusinski Construction Starts Work on 32K-SF Addition to Aurora Distribution Hub
CRE Market Beat Take
The expansion of this food distribution hub shows continued functional demand for mission-driven logistics space, reinforcing utilization of existing industrial stock in the Chicago metro.

Krusinski Construction Company has started construction on a 32,000-square-foot expansion at the Loaves & Fishes Community Services Food Distribution Hub in Aurora, Illinois. The project is located at 580 Exchange Court and will significantly enlarge the existing facility to support the organization’s growing operational needs.

Once the work is complete, the food distribution hub will total 62,000 square feet. The additional 32,000 square feet is designed to increase storage capacity, providing more room for inventory and enabling the facility to handle larger volumes of food and supplies. The larger footprint is also intended to support more efficient movement of goods through the building, sharpening overall distribution performance.

The expansion is expected to enhance how Loaves & Fishes collaborates with its partner pantries. With more space and improved layout, the facility aims to support shared resources and co-buying arrangements, allowing partner organizations to coordinate purchasing and distribution from a central hub. These operational upgrades are geared toward improving service delivery while making better use of shared logistics infrastructure.

Krusinski Construction’s project team includes several designated leaders overseeing different aspects of the work. Senior Project Manager Greg Krucek is guiding the effort at a high level, supported by Project Engineer Siddy Gupta Katkam. On-site construction activities are being managed by Project Superintendent Paul Gabriel, with project coordination handled by Erin Anderson.

The design and engineering team also features outside specialists. Powers Brown Architecture is serving as the project architect, responsible for the building’s design, while Cage Civil Engineering is providing civil engineering services for the site and related infrastructure. Together with Krusinski Construction, these firms are working to integrate the new space with the existing building in a way that supports both operational and safety objectives.

According to Krucek, the project has been carefully phased to keep the food distribution hub functioning throughout construction. He noted that the construction plan is structured to prioritize safety for staff and volunteers, reduce disruption to day-to-day operations, and maintain overall efficiency in how the work is executed. This phased approach is intended to allow the organization to continue serving its community while the expansion is underway.

As the building grows from 30,000 to 62,000 square feet, the expanded facility is positioned to provide greater capacity and improved logistics for Loaves & Fishes and its partner pantries. The project underscores how targeted industrial expansions can support more effective distribution, collaboration, and resource sharing for organizations that rely on warehouse-style space to deliver essential services.
