HonorHealth is nearing the final stages of a major renovation and expansion at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, supported by a $170 million investment that began in 2023. As part of the project, the medical center has increased its bed count from 204 to 238, reflecting a meaningful expansion of inpatient capacity at the campus.
The centerpiece of the effort is a new four-story patient care pavilion totaling 166,000 square feet. This facility is designed to consolidate and modernize patient care functions while adding space that supports the larger bed count and broader clinical operations at the hospital. The pavilion is accompanied by a range of upgrades across the medical center intended to align existing spaces with the new addition.
Among the key enhancements delivered through the project are four new operating rooms, which expand the hospital’s surgical capabilities. The medical center has also added larger pre-operative and post-operative areas, allowing for more efficient patient flow before and after procedures. These clinical upgrades are complemented by a redesigned main entrance and lobby that refresh the hospital’s front door experience for patients and visitors.
The renovation program extends beyond strictly clinical areas to include updated amenities that support patients, visitors and hospital team members. The project scope includes a new first-floor cafeteria and a renovated kitchen, which are scheduled to open later this summer. These changes are intended to modernize food service operations and improve on-campus dining and support spaces.
While core components of the expansion are nearing completion, the broader project timeline continues through 2026. HonorHealth plans a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration later in the year, signaling full completion of the pavilion, ancillary renovations and amenity upgrades across the campus. Until then, the hospital will continue transitioning into newly finished spaces as they come online.
Taken together, the new patient care pavilion, additional beds, expanded surgical capacity and updated public areas represent a significant capital program focused on expanding and modernizing the Deer Valley medical campus. The $170 million initiative underscores an ongoing commitment to invest in hospital infrastructure, with the final phases of work expected to wrap up following the opening of the new cafeteria and kitchen and the formal grand opening event planned for later in 2026.
