In-N-Out Burger has opened a new restaurant in Vancouver, Washington, marking the chain’s second location in southwest Washington within the past year. The opening extends the California-based brand’s recent push into the Pacific Northwest and adds another quick-service option to a retail corridor near downtown Portland.
The Vancouver restaurant occupies a former Rite Aid site at 13511 S.E. Third Way. The freestanding location has been configured with a single drive-thru lane, indoor seating for 84 guests and a covered patio providing outdoor seating for 28 guests. According to the company, the restaurant will employ more than 100 In-N-Out Burger associates.
Plans for the Vancouver location have been underway for approximately two years, culminating in the conversion of the legacy drugstore building to its current restaurant use. The combination of drive-thru service, indoor dining and covered outdoor seating reflects the chain’s standard operating format, adapted to a site that previously housed a different retail use.
The new Vancouver opening follows In-N-Out Burger’s debut in Washington state last August, when the company opened its first Washington restaurant in Ridgefield, just north of Vancouver. Together, the two locations establish an initial cluster of stores serving southwest Washington customers within a relatively short rollout window.
In addition to the newly opened Vancouver restaurant, In-N-Out Burger is continuing to build out its presence in the broader Portland-area trade area. Construction is nearly complete on a restaurant at 11170 NE Evergreen Parkway in Hillsboro, but that location is not yet open to the public while the company and the city finalize traffic management plans.
Further expansion in the region is contemplated through several proposed sites. In-N-Out Burger has put forward plans for a location near Portland International Airport, as well as additional restaurants in Gresham and Beaverton. These planned and proposed stores, together with the Vancouver and Ridgefield locations, illustrate the company’s ongoing effort to establish a wider regional network of restaurants anchored around the Portland metropolitan area.
The Vancouver opening, conversion of a former Rite Aid building and simultaneous work on multiple nearby sites collectively underscore In-N-Out Burger’s commitment to a measured but sustained entry into the Pacific Northwest quick-service restaurant landscape.
