The Picklr has committed to a new indoor pickleball facility in Fairfield, signing a lease for an 18,500-square-foot space at 1574 Gateway Blvd. The club is expected to open in May and will be the company's second location in Northern California, extending the brand's presence in the region and adding a dedicated indoor option for local pickleball players.
Launched in 2021, The Picklr operates as a membership-based indoor pickleball club concept aimed at serving players across a wide range of skill levels. The brand focuses on providing high-quality courts in a controlled indoor environment, positioning itself to capture demand from both recreational participants and more competitive players who want reliable access to play. Since its founding, The Picklr has expanded rapidly across the country and now counts more than 500 locations nationwide.
The company's growth is supported by strategic partners that include Pickleball Inc. and Super Bowl champion Drew Brees, reflecting the broader institutional and celebrity interest that has gathered around the sport. This backing has helped fuel The Picklr's multi-market rollout and its push into new geographies such as Northern California, where the Fairfield club will add to its regional network. The scale of the platform and the speed of its expansion illustrate how national brands are moving quickly to secure space suitable for indoor courts.
On the Fairfield lease, JLL senior vice president John Brecher arranged the transaction. In commenting on the deal, Brecher noted that pickleball remains one of the fastest-growing recreational sports in the United States and that concepts like The Picklr are playing a role in meeting the rising need for dedicated indoor facilities. He also emphasized that the new club is intended to support The Picklr's long-term growth objectives while delivering a new recreational amenity for the surrounding community.
For the local commercial real estate landscape, the lease demonstrates how experiential and sports-focused users are stepping into larger-format spaces as they look to establish or expand regional footprints. As The Picklr prepares to open its second Northern California location, the Fairfield facility underscores ongoing tenant demand for well-located, flexible buildings that can accommodate specialized indoor recreational uses.
