Mata Construction Services, Inc., a general contractor based in Los Angeles, has finished work on a new 20,000-square-foot headquarters workplace for Wedbush at the Pasarroyo office campus in Pasadena. The project creates a consolidated hub for the financial services firm within Pasadena’s South Lake district, bringing together executive leadership functions, trading operations and collaborative workspace across two floors.
The headquarters is located at 225 South Lake Ave. within the multi-building Pasarroyo complex. Mata Construction completed a full-scale tenant improvement that reconfigures and modernizes the interior to support Wedbush’s current operational needs and client-facing activities. The design was led by HLW, a global architecture and design firm, which developed a program that blends traditional corporate elements with hospitality-inspired features.
The two-level buildout incorporates a range of dedicated spaces, including a large executive boardroom intended for leadership meetings and presentations. Multiple meeting and huddle rooms are distributed throughout the workplace to support small-group collaboration and internal conferences. Private offices provide enclosed work areas, while an active traders’ area is designed to accommodate Wedbush’s trading operations in a centralized environment.
In addition to core office functions, the project emphasizes media, amenity and reception spaces. A dedicated podcast studio is included to support content creation and communication initiatives. Restrooms were built out as part of the comprehensive improvement scope. A hospitality-oriented breakroom offers space for employees to gather informally, while a reception area with open lounge seating is designed to welcome both employees and visiting clients.
Nick Mata, founder and president of Mata Construction, said the firm focused on delivering a workplace that respects the design intent established by HLW while meeting the specific needs of a contemporary financial services tenant. He noted that the assignment reflects ongoing return-to-office activity in the Los Angeles area, as companies continue to commit capital to upgraded work environments, refreshed office assets and customer-focused spaces.
The completion of the Wedbush headquarters at Pasarroyo adds a newly built-out office component to Pasadena’s South Lake district, aligning a long-standing financial services brand with a modern, amenity-rich workplace setting. The project highlights continued investment in high-quality office interiors within established urban office campuses, even as occupiers remain selective about the locations and buildings where they choose to upgrade and concentrate their operations.
