Gasworks Brewing, a brewpub based on Lake Union, is preparing to significantly expand its production footprint with a new facility in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood. The company is planning a nearly 15,000-square-foot production brewery and taproom that is scheduled to open this spring, adding substantial capacity beyond what is supported at its original location.
The SoDo project will feature a 20-barrel brewhouse along with larger tanks, which are intended to allow Gasworks to scale up its brewing output. By moving higher volume production activities into this new space, the company will be able to produce more beer than is currently possible at its Lake Union brewpub.
Gasworks will occupy roughly 15,000 square feet of warehouse space that was previously home to Seattle Cider Company. The existing structure will be converted to accommodate the brewery’s production systems as well as a taproom component, positioning the site to serve both as a manufacturing hub and as a customer-facing venue.
The original Gasworks Brewing brewpub at 2441 N Northlake Way on Lake Union will remain in operation. That location will continue to serve guests while the SoDo facility focuses on higher volume brewing, creating a two-site operating model for the company within Seattle.
The new brewery and taproom are planned for 4660 Ohio Ave S., where Gasworks aims to begin brewing in May. According to the company, the buildout is not expected to be lengthy, and the necessary permits for the project have already been submitted, indicating that preparatory work is underway ahead of the planned production start.
Owner Cody Cluff described the move as a response to growing customer demand and the need for more capacity. He noted that Gasworks has been searching for a suitable facility and expressed enthusiasm about adding 15,000 square feet of combined production and taproom space at the SoDo site.
With this expansion, Gasworks Brewing will deepen its presence in Seattle while maintaining its established Lake Union brewpub, leveraging the new SoDo location to support increased output and an expanded taproom experience.
