Skanska has elevated long-time team member Mark Lootz to the role of vice president and account manager, tasking him with guiding the expansion of the firm's New England operations. In this new position, Lootz is charged with overseeing growth initiatives across multiple sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, and sports and recreation.
As VP and account manager, Lootz will focus on managing client relationships and supporting the delivery of complex projects throughout the region. His remit spans Skanska New England's work for office and commercial users, institutional and higher education clients, healthcare providers, and sports and recreation facilities, reflecting the breadth of the company's construction portfolio in the area.
Bryan Northrop, executive vice president and general manager of Skanska USA Building, emphasized Lootz's impact on both client satisfaction and project execution. Northrop noted that Lootz's leadership style, technical capabilities, and collaborative mindset have established him as a trusted counterpart to clients and internal teams alike. According to Northrop, these attributes have contributed to Skanska's ability to deliver complex assignments in the region.
Northrop also highlighted Lootz's influence on talent development within the organization. Over his 13-year tenure with Skanska, Lootz has not only managed high-profile work but has also been active in mentoring emerging professionals at the firm. Leadership views this combination of project experience and people development as a foundation for strengthening Skanska's regional presence as he steps into the expanded role.
Lootz's project portfolio spans a mix of commercial, healthcare, sports, and higher education engagements. His work has included assignments such as Watermark and Two Drydock, as well as the Brigham and Women's Hospital Emergency Department. In the education sector, he has been involved with the Simmons University Living Learning Center, an example of the firm's role in delivering facilities that support contemporary campus needs.
In addition to his project leadership responsibilities, Lootz leads Skanska's Special Projects Group. This group focuses on specific project types and scopes within the firm's broader building operations, and his continued oversight of this platform aligns with his expanded mandate to advance growth across New England.
Skanska's decision to promote from within and place a seasoned project leader at the center of its regional growth strategy underscores the importance it assigns to continuity, technical expertise, and relationship management in its New England business. The move is intended to position the company to pursue future opportunities across commercial and institutional end users while maintaining consistent execution standards on complex assignments.
