**The Boring Company Eyes Nashville Tunnel Project Linking Airport to Downtown**
The Boring Company is just one vote away from launching a major infrastructure project in Nashville—a proposed 19-mile tunnel connecting Downtown Nashville to Nashville International Airport. If the deal is approved, the company will gain authorization to begin excavation beneath airport grounds and construct entry and exit portals near the airport terminal.
As part of the proposal, The Boring Company would operate a 19,500-square-foot covered area outside the terminal’s ground level, designated for passenger pick-up and drop-off. The project awaits final approval from the airport authority’s board, which is scheduled to vote on the agreement on February 18.
In exchange for these operating rights, The Boring Company would pay licensing fees to the airport.
The company, founded by Elon Musk, has already completed seven research and development tunnels in cities including Reno, Las Vegas, and even an international site in Dubai. Branded as “The Loop,” the system is designed as an all-electric, zero-emissions, high-speed underground public transportation network. It shuttles passengers directly to their destinations with no intermediate stops—an experience sometimes summed up by enthusiasts as “Teslas in Tunnels.”
If approved, the Nashville Loop would become one of the longest projects of its kind and a significant step forward in the company’s mission to revolutionize urban transport.
