**Catholic Medical Center Breaks Ground on $43M Central Energy Plant in Manchester, NH**
Catholic Medical Center (CMC) in Manchester, New Hampshire, has officially broken ground on a new $43-million Central Energy Plant (CEP), a major infrastructure investment aimed at modernizing and enhancing the hospital’s core systems. Completion of the project is anticipated in early 2027.
The state-of-the-art CEP will upgrade and reinforce critical behind-the-scenes operations, including heating, ventilation, air handling, and power systems—components essential to maintaining optimal functionality across the entire hospital campus. The new facility is designed to boost system reliability, decrease energy consumption, and ensure consistent temperature and air quality control throughout the hospital environment.
This project represents one of the most significant infrastructure undertakings for CMC in recent years and is a key component of its long-term strategy to promote operational stability and enhance overall patient and staff experience.
The multi-phased construction is being managed by Gilbane Building Company, with architectural work led by Barge Design Solutions. Both firms are working in close coordination with CMC teams to ensure safe and efficient progress on the active hospital campus.
