City of Chicago, CTA Plan South Side Transit-Oriented Development
The Chicago Department of Planning & Development and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) are seeking a developer for a new mixed-use housing and retail project near the 95th Street Red Line station.
The proposed development, located at 12 E. 95th Street, will transform the CTA-owned 2.5-acre site into a vibrant, transit-oriented community. Plans for the site include multiple buildings with up to 135 housing units, at least 38,000 square feet of retail space, and provisions for parking and public open areas.
To encourage diverse housing options, the city is supporting proposals that include for-sale, owner-occupied units in two- to six-unit buildings. These developments would be eligible for up to $5 million in financial assistance through Chicago’s Missing Middle Housing initiative.
“This site is a tremendous opportunity for transit-served investment at a major transit node, especially involving the area’s need for more senior housing, more Missing Middle housing, and more retail,” said DPD Commissioner Ciere Boatright.
