**$3M Grant Awarded to Portland Veteran Housing Project**

First A.M.E. Zion Church, in collaboration with Logos Faith Development and Rivermark Community Credit Union, has announced a $3 million grant to support the construction of housing for veterans in Portland, Oregon.

The funding will facilitate the development of 44 affordable housing units specifically for veterans and their families. Reverend Dr. Payne of First A.M.E. Zion Church, the oldest Black church in Oregon and a longstanding presence in Portland’s Albina community, described the grant as “a moment of resilience and redemption.”

This affordable veteran housing initiative is the only project in Portland to receive an award of this scale. Rivermark Community Credit Union played a key role as the sponsoring financial institution, helping to secure the grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

“This is a shared commitment and a shared impact we’re proud to advance,” said Kris Williams, President and CEO of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

The project is set to not only provide critical housing but also serve as a beacon of community investment and support for Oregon’s veteran population.
