**San Antonio Spurs Eye Mixed-Use Entertainment District with City Land Offer**
The San Antonio Spurs are working toward the development of a vibrant mixed-use entertainment and shopping district anchored by a proposed new arena. This potential development would be located in the Hemisfair area of downtown San Antonio and include restaurants, bars, retail spaces, and hospitality venues to enhance the city’s sports and entertainment offerings.
In support of this plan, the City of San Antonio has offered $30 million to purchase three federally owned downtown parcels. These parcels were previously designated as surplus by the General Services Administration (GSA) and added to its accelerated disposition list in 2025. If the purchase is approved, it would allow the city to collaborate with the Spurs on the district’s development, positioning the new arena as its centerpiece.
The City Council is scheduled to vote on the proposed land acquisition on January 15. If the vote is successful, the offer will proceed to the GSA, which is expected to require 90 to 120 days to approve the transaction.
This initiative is further supported by public investment, as county voters previously approved $310 million in funds dedicated to development in the area. If realized, the Spurs’ entertainment district is poised to become a transformative addition to San Antonio’s downtown landscape.
