**$540 Million Galveston Development Project Under Review**
A major new development, Sachs on the Seawall, is currently under review by the Galveston Planning and Zoning Commission. The $540 million project could significantly transform the city’s waterfront if it receives approval at the upcoming hearing.
The proposed development includes a 216-room Marriott Renaissance Hotel, 150 luxury condominiums, and 236 apartment units. It also plans for 70,000 square feet of retail and dining space, along with four acres of public green space designed to enhance community engagement and recreation.
If approved, the project is expected to create more than 2,300 jobs and serve as a major economic catalyst for the island city.
The application for the project was submitted by Mohamed Eldawy of Royal Crown Investments. Architecture and design plans are being led by Steven Biegel of PLACE Designers, who has previously designed several notable Gulf Coast developments, including Diamond Beach, Tiara on the Beach, and Ocean Front Resort.
Pending approval, the groundbreaking for Sachs on the Seawall could take place as soon as December 2026. The first phase of the ambitious waterfront project is projected to be completed by 2029.
