**Former JEA Headquarters Purchased for Redevelopment Into Mixed-Use Project**
Live Oak Contracting has acquired the former headquarters of JEA, Jacksonville’s municipal utility provider, for $1 million in a recent auction. The property, located at 21 West Church Street in downtown Jacksonville, is set to undergo a major transformation.
Originally built in the mid-1960s, the 19-story building was declared surplus in 2023 when JEA relocated to its new offices at 225 North Pearl Street. Now, in partnership with Lone Pine Development, Live Oak Contracting plans to redevelop the 350,000-square-foot tower into a vibrant mixed-use development named “The Jewel at 21 West.”
Upon completion, the project will feature 180 residential units along with retail spaces, dining establishments, and community-oriented areas. Amenities will include a rooftop lounge and a dedicated amenity deck, contributing to new life and energy in Jacksonville’s urban core.
Live Oak Contracting, a full-service firm with over 50 years of experience across ten states, brings expertise in development, design-assist builds, renovations, and revitalization projects. The company aims to deliver a transformative redevelopment that aligns with Jacksonville’s broader downtown revitalization efforts.
